Information on Crankshaft Grinding Machine and Process

Image
It is obvious that every crankshaft requires grinding and polishing. We are giving below a few reasons for the requirement of crankshaft grinding and polishing: Although crankshaft is manufactured out of forged steel due to continuous running it is observed that crankpin and main journal of crankshaft develop taper and ovality more than the limits specified by the engine manufacturer. For removal of excessive taper and ovality there is no option, but to go for grinding of the crankshaft or in case the ovality is not excessive, polishing of crankpin and the main journal is undertaken. Bearing line marks, pitting and rough surface are observed. The reason can be the poor quality of lubricating oil used, non-replacement of lubricating oil filters on time, poor quality of bearings, etc. The crankshaft polishing is recommended in case the bearing line marks and pitting is observed. The seizure of bearing on crankpin or the main journal of the crankshaft is common. In few cases, the ...

Crankshaft Grinding Machine – Vibration Free

For satisfactory running and performance of diesel engines or any rotary equipment, it is important that crankshaft is periodically checked dimensionally and for other important parameters. For any correction and repair required in crankpin and main journal diameter of the crankshaft, crankshaft grinding and polishing machine is required. RA Power Solutions is in the field of repair of crankshaft for the last forty years. The necessity for Onsite Crankshaft Grinding and Polishing Machine It is observed that after the continuous running of engine and crankshaft, it is important that during the major overhaul of the engine crankshaft is inspected for the following main parameters: I) To check taper and ovality of crankpin/main journal diameter II) To check the surface finish of crankpin/main journal III) Inspection of hardness and presence of a crack IV) Visual inspection for radius fillet and lubricating oil hole In case any deviation beyond the manufacturer’s limit ...
